ESPID Annual Meeting Travel & Participation Awards
Apply for the ESPID Travel Grant/Participation Award and receive support for your travel to Bucharest and participation at ESPID 2025!
This award is available to all ESPID members or those applying for membership. If you’re submitting abstracts for the 2025 Meeting, you must submit them before completing the award application. Abstracts must be submitted by the 21 January 2025 deadline to be eligible. Applicants who submit one or more abstracts are more likely to receive an award, as abstract submissions contribute to the overall score. You’ll need your abstract ID(s) when completing the application to maximize your score.
Selection Criteria: Awards will be granted based on a points-based system, taking into account professional qualifications, degrees, previous or current abstract submissions, and travel sustainability. There are no age exclusions.
Key Factors:
- ESPID Membership: Applicants must be ESPID members in good standing.
- Age: Younger applicants will receive higher consideration.
- Professional Qualifications: Relevant qualifications and degrees, such as medical or science degrees, and healthcare professional certifications, will be factored into the points system.
- Income Setting: The applicant’s country of residence, based on the World Bank income classification, will influence the score.
- Abstract Submissions: The more abstracts submitted to the current year’s meeting, the higher the score.
Sustainability Factor:
- Eco-Friendly Travel: Applicants who demonstrate a commitment to sustainability, such as traveling by train, bus, or other lower-emission transportation, may be awarded additional points. This encourages environmentally responsible travel.
Award Benefits:
- Travel Award Recipients: Support for economy class air or train travel to Bucharest, 2-3 star accommodation for up to 5 nights at a designated hotel, and free registration to the Meeting.
- Participation Award Recipients: Free registration to the Meeting.
Important Information:
- Session Attendance: Travel award recipients are required to attend the meeting throughout.
- Registration & Accommodation: Award recipients will receive a special link to register and book accommodation. Please note that ESPID cannot reimburse any registration fees or hotel bookings made independently.
- Travel Bookings: Award recipients must book their travel through the officially appointed travel agent. The agent will find flights or train tickets within your allocated travel budget, which may include indirect flights or off-peak train times. Note that travel from your home to the airport and from Bucharest airport to the venue is not covered and must be paid by the recipient. Once booked, travel cannot be changed, and self-booked travel will not be reimbursed.
